Brothers Joe and John Iovino opened Seppe in 2018 on Navy Pier Court, the ground floor of the Urby apartment complex on the old Stapleton Navy homeport, with a wood-fired oven at the center of a bright room and the harbor outside. The Michelin Guide has recommended it every year since 2021, and the brothers have since opened a second Seppe in Battery Park City. This is the original.

Order the Morty, the pie Michelin singles out — pistachio pesto, mozzarella, burrata and mortadella — and a plain cheese for contrast. Baked wings and a bowl of cacio e pepe round out the table. The kitchen runs all day, so a late lunch by the water works as well as dinner, and afterward the waterfront is right there for a walk back toward the ferry.

Editor’s tip

Split the Morty and a plain pie by the windows, then walk the waterfront back toward St. George.
