CHINATOWN, MANHATTAN
Wu's Wonton King
A BYOB Cantonese stalwart on East Broadway — Peking duck, suckling pig and wonton soup for a crowd.
Out on East Broadway, past the busiest blocks of Chinatown, Wu's is an old-school Cantonese restaurant the neighborhood uses for birthdays and family dinners: big tables, a barbecue counter, and bottles of wine brought from home. It is a bring-your-own place, which turns a big dinner into a cheerful bargain.
Order the Peking duck or the roast suckling pig for the table, then wonton soup, crisp pan-fried noodles and a seafood casserole from the long menu. The barbecue counter does roast duck and char siu to take home. Bring a group, bring a few bottles, and order for the table.
Editor’s tip
Bring a group and two bottles of wine, and pre-order the Peking duck when you book.
