CORONA, QUEENS
A Visit to Louis Armstrong's House in Corona
Satchmo's own Queens home, kept as he and Lucille lived in it and seen on small guided tours.

Louis and Lucille Armstrong moved into this brick house in Corona in 1943, and he lived there for the rest of his life. The most famous trumpeter in the world chose a modest home on a quiet residential block, and the museum keeps it as a personal place rather than a shrine. Small guided tours take you through the rooms where the Armstrongs actually lived, and the nearby Louis Armstrong Center adds Here to Stay, the permanent exhibition on his life and music, plus the temporary show Armstrong in Ghana.
Advance tickets are required for the house, which opens Thursday through Saturday only, with tours on the hour. The house tour plus exhibitions costs $20 for adults and $14 for seniors and students as of October 2026; Corona residents pay $5 and children 5 and under are free. An exhibits-only ticket is $10. With a house-tour ticket you can see the exhibitions in the hour before or after your tour. Take the 7 train to 103rd Street-Corona Plaza, then make a meal of Roosevelt Avenue afterward.
