Downtown is where New York shops for what's new. International brands open their first American stores on the cast-iron blocks of SoHo; New York designers keep their flagships on Mulberry, Elizabeth and Orchard Streets; and the sneaker and streetwear shops draw a young crowd from all over the city.

The walk is compact. Start on Mercer or Greene Street in SoHo, cross Lafayette into Nolita for Prince, Elizabeth and Mulberry, then keep east to Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. Below, the shops worth stopping for, grouped by what you're after. Stores with a passport stamp come from abroad.

Downtown Boutiques: SoHo, Nolita & the Lower East Side, answered

Where is the best boutique shopping in downtown Manhattan?

SoHo's side streets (Mercer, Greene, Wooster, Prince and Spring), Nolita's Elizabeth and Mulberry Streets, and Orchard Street on the Lower East Side, which Time Out named one of the coolest streets in the world in November 2025. Source

Do you need a museum ticket for the MoMA Design Store in SoHo?

No. The SoHo store at 81 Spring Street is a standalone shop, separate from the museum in Midtown. It reopened in September 2025 after a redesign. Source

Is there a line at Aimé Leon Dore?

Sometimes. The brand says the Mulberry Street flagship may use a virtual queue during busy periods; you join it at the store. Source

Every store here was confirmed open, at this address, on its own website on 2026-10-27. Shops move and close; check before you make a special trip.
