FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN

Ace Hotel Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn's creative living room: custom textile art, an artist residency and windows framing the skyline.

Ace Hotel Brooklyn opened in 2021 on Schermerhorn Street, a cast-concrete tower with warehouse-style windows on the edge of Downtown Brooklyn, built partly over the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station. The MICHELIN Guide, which awards it One Key, describes industrial, modernist rooms with custom textiles and windows that frame Manhattan's skyline down to the Statue of Liberty. Original art runs through the building, from the textile works in the rooms to an on-site gallery and an artist-in-residence program that keeps the walls changing.

The lobby, with its long communal tables and work zones, works as a neighborhood living room and a bar open until midnight. Koju offers omakase and Lele's Roman serves Roman cooking under the same roof. It suits creative travelers, remote workers and couples who want Brooklyn rather than a Manhattan postcard: Fort Greene and Boerum Hill are close by, and their brownstone streets make for easy wandering. Rooms run from compact Queens to the art-filled Ace Suite.

Editor’s tip

Book a Medium Skyline room for the Manhattan view, and reserve Koju's omakase ahead if dinner is part of the plan.
