IllustrationDocks has been shucking oysters on the corner of Third Avenue and 40th Street, a few blocks from Grand Central, since the late 1980s. The room is Art Deco, with dark wood, chandeliers, a long oyster bar and big windows on both streets.
Come for the raw bar, a seafood grill and seasonal treats like Nantucket Bay scallops and stone crab claws; happy hour runs every day from 3 to 7. On Thanksgiving it serves a three-course turkey menu alongside the regular one.
