Pastis is the Meatpacking District's Parisian-style brasserie: zinc bar, subway-tile walls, mirrors and a room that stays busy from breakfast to late dinner. The original opened in 1999 on Ninth Avenue and became a fixture of the neighborhood and of Sex and the City; it closed in 2014 and returned in 2019 at this address on Gansevoort Street, a short walk from the old corner.

The menu runs through the bistro classics, from eggs Benedict and oysters to steak tartare and steak frites. Book on Resy for dinner or weekend brunch, or slip in for the weekday breakfast, which is the calmest time to see the room.

Editor’s tip

A weekday breakfast gets you the room without the dinner crush.
