IllustrationSundays Off is a grab-and-go coffee counter in what looks like a small house on Crosby Avenue, and it bills itself, fairly, as a return of the mom-and-pop shop. It opened in 2024 and has become a morning stop for this side of Pelham Bay. There is no room to linger inside — just a counter — but there is outdoor seating in good weather, a small shelf of pantry goods like maple syrup and tinned fish, and playlists posted on the shop's site.
The coffee is the draw: a nutty cold brew, espresso drinks, and lattes flavored with turmeric or lavender. The shop bakes some of its own goods too — bagels, big chocolate chip cookies and a Basque cheesecake. Note the name: it is closed on Sundays, so make it a weekday or Saturday stop on the way to the park.
Editor’s tip
Get the cold brew and a slice of Basque cheesecake, then walk to Pelham Bay Park.
