Burchak Pide is a neighborhood Turkish restaurant on Sheepshead Bay Road, a short walk from the Sheepshead Bay subway station, specializing in pide, the boat-shaped Turkish flatbread, along with pizzas and wraps. It has built a devoted local following: one longtime fan of lahmacun and pide wrote that none of the many Brooklyn spots they had tried matched its crisp dough and fresh meat. Meals arrive with an array of little sides, even on delivery orders, and the presentation is refreshingly casual, sometimes on newspaper, which only adds to the street-food spirit. It belongs to the dense, lively Turkish and Central Asian food scene of southern Brooklyn, and it is a favorite for quick, satisfying meals.

Featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025, Burchak is a place to order pide and share it. The menu covers a range of pides, including a mixed vegetable version for non-meat eaters, plus lahmacun, Turkish street food, plates with rice, burgers, paninis and yaprak sarma, grape leaves stuffed with rice. Pizzas come out of the same kitchen, from a spicy chicken pie to a smoked salmon and arugula special. Save room for the chocolate-pistachio baklava with a glass of Turkish tea, both of which regulars rave about. Delivery is available through the major apps, but pide is at its best eaten fresh and hot at the table, so sit down if you can.

Editor’s tip

Order one meat pide and one lahmacun to compare, and finish with the chocolate-pistachio baklava and tea.
