Elcielo New York is the Manhattan outpost of chef Juan Manuel Barrientos's Colombian fine-dining restaurant, which began in Medellín and earned Michelin stars in Miami and Washington, D.C. It opened in October 2025 on the fourth floor of Virgin Hotels New York City in NoMad, with the Medellín-born reggaeton star J Balvin as a partner closely involved in its creation. The dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over Midtown and a softly lit, romantic feel. The restaurant describes its cooking as modern Colombian cuisine built on precision, memory and carefully sourced ingredients, and it is known for turning each course into a small piece of theater.

The signature tasting menu, called The Experience, runs through roughly twenty steps with names like Feria de Flores, Tree of Life and Hormiga Limonera, moving from langoustine with chontaduro and kampachi to duck with passion fruit and bison with fermented yuca. As of October 2026 it is listed at $289 per guest, with optional wine pairings and add-ons for birthdays and anniversaries. Elcielo New York was featured by the YouTuber New York Turk in 2025, who came for a solo tasting dinner. Reservations are recommended and availability is limited. Plan on a long evening, and mention any dietary needs when booking, since the menu is set in advance.

Editor’s tip

Ask for a window table when you book and add the anniversary or birthday experience if you are celebrating.
